The Person Behind the Palette
At eleven, I attempted to memorize all 358 marker codes. For fun. Yes, really. I'd sit in class matching every object in the room to a specific shade. My teachers saw a distracted student. What they missed was a creative career in its earliest, most unhinged phase.
That obsession never really went away. It just shape-shifted into drawing, painting, classical fine arts training, design, advertising, and experiential work. And somewhere along the way, music, fashion, and an unhealthy investment in Philadelphia sports.
Somewhere in there colors became personal. A shade for every person, place, and moment worth holding onto. The result is a personal palette — not just of colors, but of disciplines, perspectives, and ways of making.
So I stopped memorizing other people's codes and wrote my own. PJ-001 through PJ-005 — my personal Pantones. One for every discipline I work in, each color chosen for the way it feels.
I want my work to stick the way a color does. Take a glimpse. You might never see color the same way again.
